Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone have any experience with Marathon warrantees. I have been attempting to buy an extended plan for a piece of mind on my 1999 996 with 88K. Many of the companies I have contacted do not offer Porsche policies or do not cover this age of car. I did find Marathon offered through Source 1 Auto. The offer is for 37 monthes and 37K miles. "Gold Policy" covering drivetrain, suspension, basic electrical, HVAC, etc. They do not offer coverage for "high tech / Platinum" on a 99 due to the age of the sensors, etc. (limited CEL coverage but IMS / RMS coverage maybe). Price is approx. $4K. How does this compare - I have not dealt with this company before. Your insight / comments are appreciated Marlin

POST 2Original post

have you stopped into your Porsche Dealer??? They are willing to sell warrantees to you even if you bought the car somewhere else (in most cases) might be worth looking into - I would have got mine that way but had more miles than you so didnt make the cut off... you might

POST 3Original post

Cost is $4K. What is the maximum limit/coverage for a single Mechanical Breakdown? What is the Aggregate limit under the contract? You mention RMS - are "leaking seals" covered, are expressly not covered?

In todays economy, the insurance company behind the warranty has to be rock solid. Try to find its rating on Moodys, AM Best etc.. The warranty is worthless if the insurer goes **** up. The easiest way is to ask the service writers at your local P car dealer. They will know which companies pay and which don't. As suggested, buying a warranty from the dealer usually is a safe bet.
