Hi everyone.. I'm trying to help my buddy locate a nice 996 for around $30k (2000-2003 model Cabriolet).. We thought we'd found one and made a 6hr road trip (each way) yesterday to buy it and found out it was very misrepresented.. I told him i'd ask on the forum here to see if you guys might know of anyone or place that's reputable selling one. He's looking for either a silver, white, or black exterior color (in that order of preference) and would prefer black interior as first choice or gray as second choice.. must be a manual and have a black convertible top.. he wants a glass window but realizes pre 02 models did not come with them but would consider the plastic window if it was in excellent condition... He would like to stay around the 50-60k mile range max but of course wants lower if he can find one. We are currently searching the typical ads (autotrader, cars.com, craigslist, etc..) but realize there might be more exclusive sites not known to many that might possibly be good untapped resources that we don't know about.. If anybody knows or sees anything that might be a good fit for the above criteria I would very much appreciate it if you would PM me with details. Thanks a bunch !

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

That sucks. For far away cars what you can do is ask to see if a local Rennlister would mind taking a look at the car for you. If it checks out, then pay for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) at a mechanic or dealer. Only after everything checks out do you jump in your car/plane to go pick the car up.

Yeah, we wasted 12+ hours... he wasted $ on a rental plus a deposit.. it went from an exciting trip to a disaster to say the least.. If we find one not too terribly far away I might post it on here and see if someone in the area would be kind enough to go check it out.. my buddy is kinda sour on making a long road trip again after this recent situation but if someone vouched for the car that was trustworthy and knew Porsches well he might consider going... we are trying to find something 2-3hrs away at most right now but won't rule out further for the right car. Thanks
