Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone tired of the old PCM 1 swap it for a Pio or similar double DIN in dash nav unit? I've seen posts of people taking out their non PCM radios and cd holder and doing such an install, but not a PCM1 unit. Do-able?

POST 2Original post

Yes. PCM1 is a line level analog based system. Any good stereo installer can do a proper install, many pictures have been posted throughout the various Carrera/Boxster forums over the years. PCM2.x and PCM3.x (anything MY03+) is implemented in plastic optical fiber (MOST) and while still possible, it's not as simple as a headunit swap in the analog case.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
