Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Don't get me wrong: I **love** my 996 and think it's beautiful. But for some reason, I always think 996s look a little frog-like in the face. (I had a boyhood fixation with frogs and toads, so that probably says something ....)

POST 2Original post

They say owners and their dogs tend to look alike..................... It looks like your frogs and cars look alike..........

POST 3Original post

When I drive my C4S, it looks like I am in the middle of two very sexy legs... driving hard

Actually, when I became interested in the 911, many enthusiasts told this 'story' that the designers were inspired by the facial anatomical features of the duck. It may or may not be true, but once I was alerted to this( I owned an 85' Carrera at the time) I tended to agree. The 85', and models before an after look evenmore like the duck than the later 996 due to the big rubber 'smile' that is mounted on the bumper as well as the protruding fender mounted headlights give this strong general comparision to the features of the duck. Anywho its been conversation piece with woman I 've dated who comment about the looks of the 911.

POST 5Original post

I think the earlier models look more like a frog than the 996.

[QUOTE=ghostwriter11;5243406]Don't get me wrong: I **love** my 996 and think it's beautiful. But for some reason, I always think 996s look a little frog-like in the face. (I had a boyhood fixation with frogs and toads, so that probably says something ....) Just my opinion, but I think the 996/997 cars are way better looking from behind. Thats okay with me, its the view most people get anyway. --Woody

Do I see a resemblence? No. But I'm thinking that the observation you made was made while you were "under the influence."

POST 14Original post

The main difference is that the 996 does not taste like chicken.

POST 16Original post

A frog that can hop 0-60 in under 5 seconds....not bad, not bad at all. Ribbit....

I have to agree- yes- with ben

POST 20Original post

The 911 has always had frog eyes... I'm not the only one I've heard refer to it that way.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 5243645

Full agree - the 964 is commonly known as the frog eye model.

POST 22Original post

Yes, it reminded that when I was young 25+ years ago, people around me called 911 "the frog"!

POST 23Original post

Does the 996 look like a frog? Perhaps, it looks like a frog(if you are on drugs). Personally, I think it looks like an awesome sports car.

I can't put my finger on it, but this car does seem to resemble a frog. LOL

POST 25Original post

Only that the frog doesn't appear to have bi-xenons. That was an option that came with the AmphibianTechnics Package. Otherwise, yes - which is why green is not the best color for a 996.

POST 26Original post

So so funny, when my wife and I were looking at 911's at the dealer that is EXACTLY what she said about the 964 & older 911's (hon, those cars look like frogs all lined up) ...she (& I ) liked the 993 looks the best, but the drive in the 996 over the 993 was so obviously better, and it doesn't have near the frog look that the others do..especially with a C4S or turbo front bumper cover.

POST 27Original post

Confucious says "Better to look like a frog, than a Volkswagen!"

POST 28Original post

is it THAT hard to admit that i actually say things that are spot-on? at all times? if not for the history, marketing, circumstance, timing, etc.... the 911 is not a good looking design. it is what it is today and it's a great looking car and has a special place in the automotive world.

POST 29Original post

To me, the 996/997 bears a striking visual resemblance to the amphibian not only from the front, but also from the hind-quarters to the rear. It's the same squat and stance, but I do love it!

LOL, Frog eat beetle.

POST 31Original post

The biggest toad of them all, though, is the Nissan 350Z. Neither the 911 or 350Z are lookers without mods.
