Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My local independent shop, which seems to specialize in older Porsches, has passed on my request to install my new X74 set up. If I take the car to the original selling dealer, how long should I realistically expect an "average" dealership to take with the installation? I'm also assuming I will need a new four wheel alignment as well, right? Are the sway bars and struts really an all day job? TIA.

POST 2Original post

FWIW, I inquired recently at my dealer about the cost of installing the ROW sport suspension and was told they wouldn't do it because the parts are Euro spec and not DOT approved. Dealer said Porsche did not encourage them to do such installs. This same dealer installed the Porsche short shifter, but would not install a B&M.......

POST 3Original post

The total would be a one day job. Maybe a day and 1/2. Yes a four wheel alignment. My dealer competes with a pretty strong local market of shops and will do the work. I ended up with the PSS9 for a number of reasons, however the dealer would do the X74 for me.

POST 4Original post

My local dealer had no problem installing the RoW suspension. I even notice some dealers like Suncoast actually sell the kits online. On the other hand I can recall PAG blocking the part numbers on RoW springs for the US but not the struts? Very inconsistent behavior that makes no sense at all. I don't buy the DOT stuff as they sell cars now (GT2-3) that are even lower than the RoW spec. I think it has to do with potential warranty claims from people scraping the bottom of their cars, in other words it will cost them money. It's ALWAYS about the cash these days at Porsche.

POST 5Original post

I had the X-74 installed at my local dealer (Cary NC)took about 8-10 hours they included the alignment in the price of the install. The X-74 is much better than the ROW 030 (that I had the same dealer install 2 years ago)The suspension seems more compliant in bump less so in rebound and delightful on the track.Have Fun!

POST 6Original post

My local dealer took ~8 hours including 4-wheel alignment.

DIY... 5-6 hours... have the alignment done professionally...
