Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My '04 has delivered 6,000 great, troble-free miles until this past weekend. The PCM system is not recognizing the CD changer. I've tried re-intalling both the individual CDs, label side up and label side down, as well as the stacker itself. As of now, I'm listening to single CDs in the NAV slot in the dash. I have an appointment at my local dealer later this week, but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem, and what was done. Maybe it's something really simple I'm just not doing. The only clue is a small message on the bottom of the PCM screen that says something to the effect that "CD changer not loaded: Load CD" -- Help!

...I guess I'll be the guinea pig at the dealership on Thursday. I'll report back here what, if anything, I find out. But going in, I don't have a high level of expectations; this is a Pontiac/Subaru/Mazda/Porsche facility, and their one Porsche mechanic probably has extremely limited experience, especially with audio problems.

I would if I could but...the closest one of those is exactly 279 miles away. I have done that with my prior cars for major issues, but not sure that a CD changer malfunction qualifies as that. But thanks for the input.
