Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, i currently have a black C2 01, with Carrera 02 - 5 spoke wheels. i am planning to install a GT3 Aerokit, without the tail.just front bumper and side skirts. any thoughts? anyone who might have a sample picture could be very helpfull. i must say that i have seen a black 996 01 with side skirts and carrera 02 wheels and looked great, not with the GT3 bumper though. i have a feeling that it will look odd, since it wont be either a full GT3 look , nor an simple carrera. thanks

POST 2Original post

Here are some pics of my car while back before the crazy mods... I have more pictures in the links under my Signature.

POST 3Original post

I faced that problem as well. Go for the GT3 wheels. Part ex your old carrera wheels. Plenty of other Porsche older car owners that want them. Definatly get them. Makes the car look much better.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i have part echange my 993 turbo-twist style 18 inch wheels with the carrera 02 wheels, which i love for their design. i like GT3 style wheels but i preffer the carrera 02 style. so i wouldn't exchange my carrera wheels with GT3 syle wheels. full GT3 kit looks georgeous, but i find it a bit extreme with the rear tail. the question is what would you think of having a car with: Front GT3 bumper GT3 sideskirts carera 02 wheels no rear GT3 tail. have a s well in mind that my car is a pre-facelift 01 thanks

POST 5Original post

I don't think it would look good without the tail.

POST 6Original post

You have to get the tail. The car looks incomplete with a kit that doesn't have a tail. Also, wouldn't that mess up the aerodynamics of the car?? Every part is design to go together with the kit to balance out the air flow at high speed, IMHO.

POST 7Original post

So Porsche claims, but I'm not convinced. (I'm not saying it wouldn't be better aerodynamically with the wing, just that I'm not sure the kit without it would be worse than no kit at al). But I think the wing is a striking addition to the car. And I think you will find it less extreme after you see it in place on your car. To me, now, cars without it look a little plain.

POST 8Original post

You don't need the tail. It will only affect the car at very high speeds. I believe speeds over 100mph. I think the car look good either way. With or without the GT3 wing. I am like you, I am not a big fan of the GT3 wing so I opted to go without it. I have not had any aerodynamic problems whatsoever. Do what you like, not what others like. That's what I've learned. And you're smart for getting the Carrera wheels. They are some of the best wheels available for the 996. Strong, lightweight and pleasing to the eye. with that said...I took mine off GT3 Bumper/Sideskirts and no aerodynamic issues. I don't think the car looks bad w/o a wing.
