Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As much as I was impressed with my E55, after 15 years of driving Porsches, it simply wasn't enough, so I sold the E55 and got a '04 Carrera over the weekend: arctic silver black full leather interior 18" Carrera wheels PSM power seats Bose bi-xenons wheel caps w/ colored Porsche crest Porsche sport exhaust and 6 CD changer to be installed in the next week. Boy, it feels great to be back in a Porsche after a 4 month absence! I couldn't find what I wanted locally, so I bought it at Beverly Hills Porsche. Flew to LA Sunday AM and drove it home to the SF bay area. Took 7 hours, longer than normal due to break-in period (keeping speed to reasonable level, varying speed, RPMs, engine load, etc., and taking more stops than usual to let the engine rest). Pix to follow once I get the clear side markers and bumperplugs installed. Put on a coat of Blitz wax tonight--man, this stuff goes on and off so easily, and my experience on my E55 was it lasted really long. The dealer I sold the E55 to has it listed for $99K (MSRP was $89K)--I was shocked.

The E55 was sweet, but we all knew you'd be back. Welcome home!

Poursha, Congratulations on the new car--it's a cliche but there really is no substitute. I have to ask you about the E55--I found myself lusting after one somewhat after the US Grand Prix Sunday. They had several E55 grid cars there that looked awesome--extremely lowered (probably not driveable on the street) and they sounded great--the exhaust sounded pretty much wide open (no cats?). Do you know how close to stock those E55's are? I couldn't find any info. on the MB website. Andy

You can join us when we work on cars in San Jose. I am trying to confirm the part number for the cd changer cable/fiber optic. Can you tell me the part number when it is put in. The parts department at Stevens Creek said a CDC-4 changer was on order. Is that you? Jeff
