Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

when I bought my C4S I was unaware of the air compressor that is needed to inflate the spare in case of a flat. besides going to the dealership, does anyone know where I can get a replacement? a true replacement and not something from Pep Boy's. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

I was in the same situation. The original one can be found on ebay, at a ridiculous price! I have been told, an air pump is an air pump. I got one from Sears and it fits right with the spare.

POST 3Original post

I'm with Cosmos. I have the "true" pump in the C4S, and it's no big deal. It even has a time limit on it, like 5 minutes, I think, otherwise it will overheat. I have a Wal-Mart one for the minivan to inflate bikes, and it can keep pumping away forever and a day.

POST 4Original post

There are a few one Ebay at the moment - search under 'Porsche air compressor'. I've seen both styles on there. Andreas

POST 5Original post

Dumb question, but does the car come with an air compressor from the factory? If so, is it good for one use or more? I've glanced at the spare but don't recall seeing the compressor.

POST 6Original post

an air compressor is plugged into the cig lighter and yes, you can use it over and over to inflate tires and your spare. i'd not waste money getting a $100 porsche compressor. plenty of good compressor out there that does even a better job. i got one with a digital gauge built in that will stop compressing air at a preset pressure. this makes pumping air faster and accurate.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the info. I am going to try to bid on one from ebay, but if it gets out of conrtol I am on my way to Wall Mart

POST 8Original post

I have used mine and it pumps alot of air fast. Can't say it's worth $100 but it is definately better than my sears $40 unit.

POST 9Original post

get one that is short and flat, not tall with the cyclinder pump. this way, it'll pump without bouncing all over the place. OEM will bounce around so you have to hold it while it's pumping.
