Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey guys Im thinking about purchasing this specific car: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ng=&cardist=61 and heres the carfax: [img=http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/4642/untitled4gd.th.jpg] [IMG]http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/6154/untitled23ox1.th.jpg now i have a few qs for you guys. 1. Should the 25k miles on a 7 year old vehicle scare me? Is the car being used that sparingly in the past 4 years a major red flag? 2. if you look at all the servicing done on the car in the first 10,000 miles is that something i should be afraid of? Could it be that dreaded RMS issue? 3. Finally a question about the same rms issue. This car is a tip, is this issue more common on the sticks than the autos? 4. Does anyone know any good and knowledgable porsche mechanics who are recomended in the Los angeles area that would do a PPI to tell me if this car has issues such as rms? 5. and finally, get it or not based on the info i have provided. thank you so much and visiting these forums have been very informative and slightly freightening lol ( damn rms has me wondering whether a 35k car will have engine blowout. @#$&!)

POST 2Original post

That car has been serviced more than a john at the Bunny Ranch . My car has low mileage (23K) and thankfully has only been to the dealer for routine maintenance. It doesn't look good to me.

POST 3Original post

There is obviously a service problem that's taken a lot of visits to resolve (if it has been resolved). Super low mileage cars are usually the ones that have problems with leaky seals and such; things just dry out when the engine is not run on a regular basis. IMHO- Find another one.

Here's what you do to help you decide. Talk to the owner - get him to call his dealership, and specifically talk to the service manager - giving your authorization to pull the records on this car. The service manager can pull up two types of service file for you, and fax them to you. 1) The local service history at that dealership (so all work done locally, every last nut and bolt) 2) The full warranty service history (So every warranty service task carried out, at any dealership in the US, for that car) You'll get pages and pages of detail - they look like this: You will be able to see what the problems were on each visit, what was done, what was replaced etc etc. That will help you decide.
