Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I got tired of having the cord for my Passport hanging across the dash. One afternoon and some $ later... I think it looks pretty good. The installer fabricated a new panel and covered it in vinyl, so I can go back to stock if I ever want to. The detector is on the driver's side of the rear view mirror.

POST 2Original post

Definitely better. I had the same conclusion when I had that radar detector. On my 2001 I removed the center portion where the window switches and ash tray are located and hard wired the radar power to the switch, I then took apart the mute button and drilled out one of the dummy switches in the back and put the mute button through it.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That sounds like a pretty slick setup. Do you have any pictures?

POST 4Original post

Damn, I searched my entire HD and I can't find the pictures, it's kind of pissing me off now. I'll post them if I can find them!!

POST 5Original post

POST 6Original post

I hardwired my passport in my SUV pretty much the same way.
