Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Video i had made of my 2002 996 C2 before selling it (New owner wrecked it) i had done alot of stuff to this baby... Figured i'd share maybe would give you some ideas on things to do to your C2 You Tube

POST 2Original post

That is/WAS a sharp looking car. Pity the new owner wrecked it. Although I feel like I could smack him up side the gob, I do hope that he was not injured in the crash.

He was not injured, he got rear ended actually

POST 4Original post

Probably not his fault then I take it. Dammit that is a bummer. What a rotten thing to happen to a new owner. Hope the Insurance covers the loss and that he buys another 996 to replace it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ya wasn't his fault, and insurance took good care of him

POST 6Original post

This could've been a good opportunity for the new owner to upgrade to your old bumper.

lol....man the bumper you sold me for the 997 i think is gonna get replaced now, couple of months ago a guy backed into at a stop sign, very slow speed, but he was in SUV and kind of pushed the bumper down a bit, so today i took it in finally & the shop says might as well get a new one since his insurance paying for it

All that work on the bumper to make it perfect and some idiot backs into you. At least his insurance is covering it.

Oh man, all that work you did on the 997. Glad you're ok at least since cars are replaceable. What's next?

POST 14Original post

So after having both a 996 and a 997, what's the verdict? Is the 997 worth the extra $$, or is the 996 a better deal and leaves money for mods?

ended up thinking i'll be nice and economical & get a new car thats up to date with all technology, i got a 2012 C250 Benz..did some mods, while its a great car & all, it just doesn't give me the "pleasure" in driving...so couple of weeks ago i bought a 2001 BMW E39 M5 to have as a 2nd car for fun...its an amazing BEAST...if i had it to do all over again, i would have just bought the Porsche from Insurance & fixed it..i cant' believe i didn't do that it was easily fixable for 10-15k i loved both, the 997 was more refined & easier as a daily driver, the 996 a bit rough as a daily driver

Tarek307 that is a great looking Porsche you have in you avatar, what year is it? the 2002? what all have you done to it?

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11036378

no thats my 2005 997S launch edition i bought after the 996, sadly totaled last august

POST 20Original post

That is sad...beautiful car. How extensive was the damage? From the picture it looks fixable.

POST 21Original post

Looks totaled to me. Note the variable-width gap between the hood and fender. Straightening that thing out would be rough...that just sucks. Seeing those black wheels on the black 911 makes me want to paint/powdercoat mine...

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually there was no serious damage to the floor of the car or the frame- insurance paid me well & they were willing to sell to me for $15,000 i am an idiot for not buying it and fixing it! well actually the day after insurance paid me, the body shop called and offered me $1000 cash + $1000 in shop work over the 15k if i was to buy the car and sell to them & i did, of course now the owner of the shop probably fixed it for $10k and he's driving a perfect 911 with only 30k miles for $26k total

that was a shame, sorry to see that happen.... thing that kills me to put a lot of money in a car (any brand) that can easily overvalue insurance payout if totaled, lost about 6k on one because of that, and almost 9k on another, neither accident our fault
