Interesting. Of all the whining about our cars I had not heard this one. http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/feds...lant-loss.html

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

hmmm... GT1 engine in a 911? 10000 under investigation.... methinks someone has their facts wrong.
It's listed at the top of the 996 forum...
This is a known issue in 996 turbos. Many PCA chapters apparently won't allow a 996 or early 997 turbo to participate in an event unless this issue has been addressed. I believe there is a fix that involves welding the coolant lines so they won't split at the questionable fitting. Perhaps they are calling the Metzger engine from the turbo the GT1 engine because it was derived from the GT1.
I am willing to bet there have been a lot more than 10 M96 engine that have experienced sudden loss of oil due to RMS and IMS issued that resulted in vehicle disablement and oil on the pavement. Where has the NHTSA been for this?
