Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just got my 2000 996 Cabrio a couple of weeks ago. When I got it there was a little abrasion on the soft top. So I looked at the top as is was going down and noticed that the roof was in contact with the latch (and covering it) when closing. So when the hard rear hatch section closes it appears to be pinching the material. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions to prevent a hole being formed? For now I can stop the opening before the rear hatch section starts to close and manually tuck the soft top under the latch. But a more permanent solution would be better. Photos attached. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

There is a little plastic flap that protects the top from the latch mechanism that is missing on you car. You need to replace it (not sure if you can buy it separately) or the problem with the top will get much worse.

Thanks Doug. Could you take a photo for me?
