I am in need for a donor instrument cluster. I only need the tach gauge LCD panel- I don't care if anything else works. My car is a '01 but I believe anything from 99-01 would work but it would be helpful if I can get someone to confirm which years would work. My car also has the computer information option which I also need help confirming whether this makes a difference to the LCD panel.

Just a suggestion to post this on renntech.org. There are many different versions of the cluster... For example tiptronic, C4, manual, etc. Some of those things might matter for the LCD portion. All of the LCD's should have the OBC already. You can get a cluster on dcauto.com for $500.
I know I could get a used cluster for about $500 but I was hoping someone would have a bad cluster hanging around that would be pretty useless except for being a LCD donor. This is somewhat of an experiment so I don't want to pay top dollar but would be willing to give someone compensation for their bad cluster. The car is a 6 spd C2. I have never seen a display below the tach that reads anything related to the transmission but I am no expert in 996s. That is why I was hoping a few peoples that are in the know could chime in on what clusters would work for me.
I got a cluster coming from a dismantler for $100. I will keep everyone posted on how the transplant goes.
