Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just a brief intro. I am a long-time Porsche owner (and Pelicanite) and after 3 aircooled Carrera's I have just picked up a 99 996. It had a known engine intermix issue and I have a new motor on the way. Going to do the IMS install before it gets plugged in and I hope to be ready for the Niagara Region DE at Watkins Glen in May. Car went immediately to the shop so I don't have a good picture to insert. It is a silver 99 with black interior. The chassis has 60k on it when it died and the new motor should breathe some life back into it. Not yet sure what to do with the old core, but will considering selling in parts or in whole. I'm sure I will have questions as we go and I look forward to learning the 996's and contributing where/when I can. Tony G

Thanks! I found a used one with low miles AND a 3 yr warranty. Still plan to do the IMS upgrade and a low temp thermostat, and new clutch. May also do the deeper sump kit LN has.
