So today I noticed a rattle coming from the rear of the car....it sounds like somethings loose...like a heat shield or something. Since the car is so low to the ground I can't really get my head under there to find it. Right now that is. It's only there at idle and to about 2200 rpm, then it goes away... Since I'm unfamiliar with this car (bought it 2 weeks ago) and I read lots of posts about IMS, AOS, POS, IIRC, runDMC, etc...I just want a second pair of ears before I drive this car home (that it's not about to grenade the engine ) http://gallery.me.com/seanmclennan/1...20end%20rattle Thanks

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had a rattle and it ended up being a loose part in my left muffler. My symtoms were the rattle itself, but mainly when i would ease off the gas in any lower gear. It would make a louder rattle and it was clear something was loose in there.
no, back in Alberta... Yeah, I think that's it

Good news - it is not your RMS, IMS, AOS. Those don't make any noise (until it is way too late).

Well, search "muffler rattle" and check out my last Thread. I performed surgery on my muffler, and everything is great now. I don't suggest buying a new muffler yet.
I had a constant rattle that turned out to be a loose cross member (if thats the name) its made of light aluminum and connects 2 suspension points and runs under the engine. Tighten up 2 bold, rattle gone.
my past rattles were; loose baffle in the muffler and catalytic converter (often the rattle sounds like popcorn popping)
Sean, did you ever find out what the noise was all about?
