Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi everyone, another newb is joining this forum. i just bought a 1999 C4 with 85000km(52000miles) which came with factory aero kit. this is my first porsche so i'm excited that my dream finally came true, at the same time very fearful of some of the major issues discussed in the forum. this will be my daily driver so i will be driving in all weather condition that this great canadian city brings.

POST 2Original post

For a daily driver in Canada a C4 was a good call. Great looking example. Have fun.

POST 3Original post

Welcome......you could be my twin. Be careful of the front splitter when parking. It is held on by plastic rivets and tears off if you hit something.......like road kill. Ask me how I know. Nice ride!

POST 6Original post

Another new member with a MY 99 no less. Welcome, very nice looing example.

POST 7Original post

Very nice. and welcome. The folks here are just loaded with knowledge and love to share. I am a month and a 1/2 into my first Porsche and I am loving it. learning new stuff every day.

POST 9Original post

Congrats and welcome from a fellow noob. Love the Aero kit on your car, definitely perks up the lines of the car IMHO. Rims are not too shabby either

POST 12Original post

Welcome and don't worry too much on what your read on. Just make sure you maintain her and keep up with any preventive stuff. You will find out these are VERY reliable cars to have as DD.

POST 13Original post

Nice specimen. Welcome and drive the hell out of it!

POST 14Original post

Very nice!! Ill be saddling up again in a 996 as a daily driver soon enough.

POST 15Original post

Welcome , one Canuk to another. Beautiful car. Enjoy

POST 20Original post

Congrats! Have you wiped off the big grin off your face yet? These are great cars to own and make great daily drivers.

POST 22Original post

Welcome to yet another 1999 C2 996. Don't let that engine go cold for long.

POST 23Original post

Welcome. My perfectly non-scientific opinion is that the 3.4 motors, once they pass 15K or so mileage without major incedent, are the most durable of the first generation (pre 95) water cooled powerplants. I drive my C2 (with Blizzacks on the stock 17s) during the winter and so long as I don't encounter icing they work great. Unfortuantely, living in the Deleware Valley, the sleet and freezing rain capitol of the world, we are challnged by our winter conditions. But you should see more of the "loosely packed powder" variey of slalom conditions. Big fun. Just watch out for those teetering SUVs sliding in your direction while their pilots chatter away on Blue Tooth. Better call in sick. Enjoy!
