OK, I'll get to the formal introductions when I take position of the car and I'll get pics and all the 'nice' stuff. I had a ppi done on a '02 996 cab and it was money well spent. Main item is that the clutch has less than 20 left on it, so I'll have the clutch, rear main seal and intermediate shaft seal done at the same time. My question is this? What are my options outside of stock. I have searched a lot and find now clear direction. When I did the clutch on my '95 993, it was a no-brainer. The common fix was the RS clutch and flywheel kit. Sure, many complained about noise and stalling, but others (including myself) found that if you actively drive the car with up-shifts and downshifts and don't do a lot of coasting in neutral on off ramps the car doesn't stall. That was by far the best mod I've ever done. It breathed new life into the 993 an made it the car that it should have been from the beginning. Is there such a thing for the 996? Thanks, Aaron

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Cool! For the IMS I assume you mean the LN Engineering bearing, not a seal. The RMS seal fails, the IMS bearing fails.
Aaron I agree the lightweight flywheel made a huge impact on my 993 TT and was completely streetable. I don't think it's such a great idea for 996 street cars as the bottom end is not as predicable as the air cooled 993's. If you insist, Aasco Bros in Costa Mesa makes them for about $1k. I've raced one for 2.5 years now without any issues. The stock Sachs clutch, PP, and TO bearing replacement kit works great in these car, I race on one. You can spend a lot more but the benefits negligible for a street car. OK so what's the mileage on your new car and what plates are those on the 993?...

Yes, thanks. That's what I meant. Sorry, nube to the water cooled 996 world.

Thanks a lot. Looks like I'll be sticking with stock for the clutch, pp and to bearing. My 993 had 77k on it when I sold her. Sold due to growing kids and and a longer commute. Old MA plates. Still have the long commute, but I've got a TDi Cup Edition for daily purposes. 996 is going to be for fun purposes - maybe to work once week or so? Mileage on the 996 is 60k Aaron
