Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Referring to the frog 2's post https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-with-pic.html Considering all of the electronic monitoring devices in our cars. Is the DME smart enough and/or programmed to shut off the ignition if it senses a no oil level & pressure situation? With no oil pressure will the cam chains immediately jump timing?

POST 2Original post

I think the oil loss is the end result of the catasrophic failure, not the cause. It's too late once once you've lost the oil, shut down or no.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If you bash the sump and crack it you could lose the oil before the engine is toast.

POST 4Original post

The mk2 cars will turn the instrument cluster red, display "low oil pressure" message, illuminate the oil pressure warning light and sound a beep. I don't think the DME will interrupt operation otherwise.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ahmet, Think it would jump timing right away? Just speculating why frog's engine quit so abruptly when the oil ran out of the case.
