Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

what sort of tuning went into this engine? Ive seen a few different pics that have similar looking hardware..are these supercharged or turbo? <img src="http://www.evoms.com/Pic533.jpg" alt=" - " />

POST 2Original post

Looks turbocharged. You can see the turbos at the bottom center of the pic. If your unfamiliar they look like those big fan shaped sea shells. That's where the impeller for the turbo is housed.

POST 3Original post

how can you work on this engine now that the intercooler is on the top? I have always been interested in adding a turbo or supercharger on my car but I haven't been able to get enough info regarding them.

POST 4Original post

I'd like to see the rear deck lid that those intercoolers will fit under. It definitely won't look stock. Karl

POST 6Original post

Yeah on the air to air one for the intercooling it won't fit under the stock rear, but I hear somehow that the water to air one will.

I thought the standard 996 engine wasnt able to handle that sort of power...I think i saw a gemballa engine like this before..i can hardly imagine what they charge for this.

I don't know any work besides an oil fill that can done through the rear hatch. There is no way a stock 996(non-trubo, non-GT3) motor would last with force induction, you really need stronger internals for boost.
