Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So my many satisfying years of owning and driving my Boxster, from touring to track days have come to an end. In fact I wouldn't be looking for a 996 if my 986 had not come to an untimely demise. Beware of crazy girlfriends in big SUVs. They can shorten lives so easily, especially on unsuspecting cars innocently parked on the street. In looking for another Boxster, I somehow morphed into now looking for a 996. I test drove a couple of 996 TTs of the 2000 vintage and found it a "nice" experience. So I'd love your opinion on the advantages and disadvantages of owing a normally aspirated 996 compared to a turbo 996. I'm thinking of such things as engine longevity, on the street practicality, etc, so you opinion and insights would be valuable for me. Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

i made the mistake of driving a 996tt before purchasing my 996 c2. 996tt is a bat out of hell, but I couldn't justify the cost, and I would have to finance the car if I went with the turbo, and then insurance would have been 3k for full coverage. The 996 has been plenty for me, instead of making payments/insurance cost on a 996tt, I used that money for track days, and traveling and then tires/brakes/etc. I think I made the right decision and I wouldn't even look at a tt now, only a gt2 or gt3.
