I'm a longtime reader of the forum, but this is my first post. Rennlist and it's members have consistantly been a great repository of information during my 997.2 ownership, so let me start by saying, thank you! I recently purchased a 996 C4S with 127k miles. While high milage, the car has been well maintained with all major service stamps and records going back to the mid 2000's, including IMS/RMS, water pump, full suspension refresh, pads/rotors, etc. etc. I started noticing a single tick or click sound (like a pebble hitting the windshield) about 2 seconds after every shift. The noise seems to come from the dash, probably behind the gauge cluster. It happens after every shift, whether I'm shifting up, down, or into neutral. It seems relevant to mention the clutch was replaced, but the "new" clutch has around 50k miles on it. I've searched this forum and others, but so far I've been unable to find any info that explains the cause of the noise. I did find posts that mentioned other ticks or clicks, but these were either consistent and/or not related to shifting gears. I would be interested to know if anyone has any ideas about what may be causing the issue?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
