Searched through the threads, but not sure if I'm having a slightly different problem or not. My key fob works fine as long as I keep driving the car. But if I go on a trip and leave it parked for a week, it will no longer open the car when I'm back. I have to insert it into the lock... at which point the alarm goes off, and then I press the unlock button, and everything stops and the fob begins working correctly once again. Should I try resetting it? It doesn't seem like I need a brand new fob as outside of this, it works fine.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hahaha. Yeah, this is my first p-car, and I'm still learning about all the ... let's say, "design decisions".
You may want to check out the two sticky threads: "things you didn't know about your 996" and "common issues".

Excellent advice. Thanks
That's good advice for anyone who is in the process of buying a 996. The most important part of the PPI is knowing what the car is supposed to do. Finding out after the sale that something is not working correctly, can be a very expensive time consuming event.
