https://spinoff.nasa.gov/Spinoff2020/cg_4.html [The material, also called nano-flakes, is sticky on one side and smooth on the other. The sticky side is attracted to points of friction and attaches itself to those spots, leaving the smooth side facing out. This happens over and over, building up layers of nanoparticles until a given rough spot is smoothed over, much like filling in a pothole in a street. The heat and pressure that naturally occur with friction bond the nano-flakes together, forming a new, durable carbon-lattice surface that Rudenko calls diamond-like.] I came across this and thought it was interesting. Normally I would brush this into the "too good to be true" pile, but being written by NASA got me interested. I did a search here and was quite surprised this has never been discussed.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

It sounds like WS2 or tungstendisulfid. There are several science reports reporting great results when blending it in to PAO oil. The down side: It doesn't stay in suspension for too long and usually ends up in the bottom of the sump. https://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-01461622/document
