Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Things I don't want: vibration, echo resonance inside, rattles. Things I do want: Snappy note, light weight, snarly at high revs, lower back pressure. What should I get? Or is the answer to everything - 'Tubi'?

Fabspeed. Had catback on my 986 and it was pure heaven...

POST 3Original post

I had tubi on my 99 and loved it. I have fister d on my 02 and like it. Did I like the tubi $1400 more than the Fister? No.

POST 4Original post

I have Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes I think they are "Cup style" as everything they do has to have "indy style flanges" or other fancy racy thing lol. Love the sound of the system, not too loud (first 1k miles where quite hard on the ears), but amazing sound after break-in. As for the company, they make a pretty good product, a bit pricey IMO, but those are both ok...I do not like how they talk down on the competition and to be frank, they seem to lie about things. Products still good though.

Oh boy, does this have anything to do with tires or oil? Tubi of course! Fister Mod will not give you lightweight, although it is the better value out of the two.

POST 9Original post

Has anyone tried any of the offerings from fvd brombacher? Love to hear something about their exhausts.

POST 10Original post

Tubi. Tubi is to 996 exhaust what James Earl Jones was to Darth Vader. (Hint: f'n awesome)

I have their complete setup (headers, X-Pipe Cat's, Mufflers). Love it and customer service is top notch.

POST 13Original post

I had the Fister D mod done to my cans. Simply love the sound. Quiet around town, snarly at WOT. Then, once my cat went bad (again), I opted for the 200 cell high flow cats on the Brombacher X pipe set up. If it was awesome before, now the sound is simply amazing!!!!!!! Wish there were some tunnels in my neck of the woods, as I would love to hear THAT sound. GL with your decision. I would suggest that you try Fister D, save some $$$$. If after the Fister D, you want even more growl, then see if you can snag an aftermarket system, (Fabspeed, Brombacher, Tubi, Billy Boat, etc.) on RL.

I'll eventually get around to doing this and do a comparison to my Tubi's. PMKazz's method also saves the weight you're looking for too.

POST 15Original post

Another vote for Fister here. It's really more of a sound modification than anything else, but the sound is fantastic and the price is right. No droning at all...

POST 16Original post

Another vote for Fister from this garage, great sound, great service!!

At the risk of being labelled a cheap bastage(which is absolutely true), why don't I just get my MIG unit out, get a foot of 2.5" pipe, cut-off wheel and go to town. Sounds like I could save about $250 over their deal.

POST 18Original post

You could perform the "gundo hack" yourself. Many people have done this or have had a local muffler shop do it. Fister does high quality work and they have done many of these. They turn it around quickly and they know exactly how to do it.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do you suppose is has some kind of diffuser pattern holes, or would it just be a big cut hole, and a bypass? Guess I could go ahead and start with a bunch of holes, and see what I get.

POST 20Original post

There are two different ways that it has been done. The Fister mod is essentially a partial muffler bypass. Holes are cut into the pipes going into the muffler and exiting the muffler and a pipe is welded between them, effectively allowing some of the exhaust to bypass the muffler. The other way is to try to mimic the exhaust flow of PSE. In this case, the "cap" on the mufler is removed and a pipe is welded between the hole where the cap was and the exhaust pipe that leaves the muffler. This method bypasses one chamber of the muffler. I think either method is fine, but I certainly like the way the Fister mod sounds...

POST 21Original post

+1 for the Fister D's. You can hardly tell the car isn't stock until you jump on it and then it just screams (tastefully). I had many compliments on the sound at the last autocross.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Alrighty, this was a successful thread. I saved money, got some great advice, and one more job to do. If I ever get busy and buy one of the darn things!

POST 23Original post

I've got a Fabspeed with EvoMS headers on my C4S and it sounds FAB ulous. -Eric

POST 24Original post

If you buy one with a Natural Brown Leather interior (and you should!) then I've got a set of front floor mats that are new in the package that I'll sell you cheap!

POST 25Original post

Maybe this helps Sorry for crappy iPhone vid Don't worry engine warmed up, just cold outside hence condensation Before (stock) http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/peteb3/IMG_4237_zpsfb9c121e.mp4 After (Tubi headers and mufflers and fabspeed x pipe 200 cell cats) http://i812.photobucket.com/albums/zz43/peteb3/IMG_4236_zpsb7cfb174.mp4

POST 26Original post

Another +1 for the Fister option. Really is amazing how much "better" the sound is - throaty, yet tasteful. Great for a DD too - no droning on the highway.

One of the top contenders I"m vetting has the natural brown leather. If I get that, I'll pick those up from you on my ski trip this Nov. Cheers!

POST 28Original post

I had a TUBI on my 2002. Was perfect. No drone at all.
