Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey, Im currently doing a whole bunch of maintenance on my 2003 Carrera and a PO has what looks like an air temp sensor zip tied to the rearmost runner of the upper manifold. Nothing obvious is broken off, can anyone tell me what it is and where it goes?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Figured it out. There was a rubber grommet sitting dirty on top of the engine case w a 993 p/n that when I looked it up came back as temp sensor grommet.

POST 3Original post

Yep. All it does is turn the engine compartment fan on, not a critical sensor but nice to have in the right place. More likely than not it dropped when someone was trying to reach the alternator ac compressor 3rd bolt.

u mean ac compressor 3rd bolt

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That bolt is such a pig. I found that one more annoying than the manifold "bitch bolt" which sucked, but was manageable after I loosened up the AOS slightly. The compressor bolt is super long and I can only get like 1/16 of a turn on it at a time, even with a fine ratcheting box end it took forever.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Also, while we're in here, do we think it's possible/advisable to install the coolant bottle before the left intake manifold? Getting the bottle out was a total PITA, but I'm not 100% sure if I'll have access to all the manifold bolts with the bottle in.
