Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I finished the AMG paddle shift upgrade on my wife's tiptronic Carrera and noticed that there was an unused wire on the steering wheel side of the clockspring. It's the Yellow/Red wire in the photo below. This photo was taken before I removed the steering wheel for modification, so that wire is *definitely* unused, and the same wire appears in Vince124's paddle shift install write-up . For now, I've left the functionality of the original tiptronic shift buttons, but if I can determine where that wire goes on the steering column side of the clock spring, I would like to reuse the tip buttons as a series of KEY1 resistor ladder signals on the CarPlay head unit that I installed last year. I have seen that same color wire used as the horn signal on some images of manual transmission clock springs, but those all have many fewer wires. Does anyone know where to find the clock spring wiring diagram for a tip, or at least where that wire originates from on the dashboard side? Cheers.
