Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My Alcantara steering wheel is a bit haggard after 18 years and 130k miles of use so why not get an Alcantara wrap and get 'er done? Bottom line: my M series E46 steering wheels came out awesome...the 996 not so much... The supplier (in, umm, er, China...) was a different one than the supplier for the E46 wrap. The first one they sent was the wrong one (it was for the wheel versions that have the push button shift controls on the wheel face just outboard of the airbag even though I sent 'em a photo of the steering wheel...) and came to that conclusion after stitching it up. They sent another one that doesn't wrap well for the thumbs on the 3/9 spoke and 6 o'clock spoke baggy as all get out. Has anybody wrapped one yet with a cover that is worth a damn? Freshening up the tactile interface is singularly one of the best things a driver can do IMO. Appreciate the assist! ~John About a 1/4" gap btwn wrap and wheel on the thumb positions. Both sides. Arrrrrgh!

Hi, Good question. I too would like to know. I want to wrap my wheel in alcantara as well. have you had any luck?

POST 3Original post

Id send it to Rod at Classic 9. He redid my 964 Cup in natural suede.

OP - How much are you willing to spend? A $30 Chinese shift boot cover is one thing. The steering wheel is your primary touch point for controlling the car. Attention to detail and quality matter.
