Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, did an oil change on a 996.2 carrera, found these during oil filter inspection: bearing (IMS or RMS) shield wear? IMS was serviced 2016. No record on RMS. Small leak between transmission and engine.

POST 2Original post

Hmmm. Is it spongy or rubbery? The typical answers are: sealant chain guides Yours looks to have some texture. If it is rear main seal and it was in the filter it went through the oil pump and got chewed up. Maybe have a look at the bell housing for oil leaks.

Thanks for the feedback. I've sent an oil sample for analysis including the debris found in the filter, hopefully it can be identified.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
