Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I like the newer style steering wheels. What is the newest style I can put on my 996 with airbag? Ive heard 997.1 for sure, but what about 997.2?

POST 2Original post

997 steering wheels will not fit on 996, they have a bigger/different spline....( and other things) Many years ago I was trying to make a 997.2 paddle shifter wheel fit a 996 and I found an adaptor from an early 90's Audi that would make the splines work but it set the steering wheel out way too far and none of the column trim or clock spring would fit worth a flip... So if you want a newer looking/different wheel, you will have to go aftermarket. There was a guy on here recently who custom makes a 997 paddle shifter steering wheel into something that will fit on a 996, I think he was in Australia. Maybe some one on here remembers the name and can post the link..
