Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need some help with some questions: What kind of discount can I expect on a MY2002 911 C2? Does the discount depend on the number of options(I am planing to buy a 911 with only a few options)? Any opinions on Lease vs Buy 911 if I plan to get a new car in 3-4 years would be appreciated. How long is the wait for a 2002 cars? Any answers/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. SB

POST 2Original post

I don't know about the discount (probably not much given the waiting lists in my area for MY2002). Re: purchase v. lease - I purchased my 911 because I expect to keep it for a very long time (what a cool, fun car!!). If you really think you will want to trade the car within 3 or 4 years, leasing probably makes sense - even though the 911 holds its value well. Dealers are always unwilling to pay fair value for the trade (unless they are desparate to sell you a new car - never the case with a porsche dealer) and its a hassle to try to sell the car yourself.

POST 3Original post

I live in Manhattan and placed an order for a 2002 C2 cabriolet two weeks ago and made the October production for delivery in November. The factory is closed in August and I think if your dealer still has his October allocation available you'll have to place an order before the end of August to make that month's production. It's very hard to generalize about discounts, but they can be available depending on the dealer. Lease vs. buy? a lot depends on how much you intend to drive and how long you intend to keep the car. I've always thought the cheapest way to buy a car is with a home equity loan if it is available to you. The interest rates right now are very low and the interest is tax deductible unlike that of a lease.
