I just got a 996 this week and it had a creak, a squeak - the wooden ship thing in the back somewhere ..... I googled it- i read loads of posts here - i was convinced i was going to have to change out the ball joint and control arm etc etc.... I was under the car- rocking it back and forth trying to figure what was going on. Squeaks drive you crazy and are hard to find ... Anyway turns out the nut holding the black bar that goes across the suspension at 45 degrees just needed tightening up!! That was it - squeak gone! Worth a try. Sorry do not know what the bar is called but found this pic - No17. uDnTzps.jpg

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
