Hi guys I bought a 991 spline adaptor for my 996 via spacershop. Everything is working nicely except I cant figure out how to get the horn working. It came with a red jumper but where does the horn plug into? Updated with photos

Looks like you have it wired correctly, The horm wire is just a single wire that grounds to the steering shaft/frame when activated. You may have a faulty horn relay/dual horns/fuse ... Just ground the horn wire and the horn should sound.. BTW :: Very nice upgrade !! I love the 991 paddle shifter steering wheels on the 996 Tip cars...the look and feel are exceptional. !!
Hello friends I also need help,I have 996.2 with tiptronic and I want to install original 991.2 steering with paddles shifters i have search around last month but no write up for this conversion (tiptronic buttons to paddles shifters 991) i would appreciate if someone could help really thanks in advance
Do you already have the adapter like is shown at the top of the thread ?/ It comes with instructions....

thanks for you help🙏 but in that link they not write for enabling paddles But I want only to work paddle shifters from 991.2 steering wheel in 996. Current 996 wheel is with tiptronic (so no multifunction buttons on both.)
The wiring for the Tip switches/paddles is very simple... The control only uses 3 wires , (1) a common wire (2) an upshift wire + ( 3) a downshift wire - the paddle shifters have 2 wires each , the left paddle gets a common and the downshift (-) wire ( note : it doesn't matter the polarity of the wires) the right paddle gets a common and the upshift wire (+) ( note : it doesn't matter the polarity of the wires) That's it !! .. If you need the wire colours refer to the instructions or to a wiring diagram...

curious if you'd be willing to provide a measurement betweem the turn signal stalks and the wheel? Are the extremely far back from the newer wheel?
original porsche 991.2 turbo wheel alcantara with aluminium paddles and airbag is for sale included special adapter to fit all porsche 996-993-986 all parts are new
Does anybody have any info on how they wired this airbag? I'm about to do this conversion, but I was under the impression that the airbag was not usable due to it being two stage deploying. This is the first example I've been able to find with the airbag wired up.
Not gonna lie, the new wheels look AWESOME in the 996! I'm assuming this is easier with a manual?
Hey Would like to resurrect one of the greatest 996 mods there are! How is the comfort with the turn signal stalk with the wheel being pushed out because of the adaptor? What's the distance between the wheel and stalks? Also how did you go about wiring the airbag? im seeing thats a big concern in the comments. Thanks in advance! Loosing sleep over this mod im so excited!
Looking for some additional input on this as well. Is the real "cost" essentially losing your airbag? I read somewhere that after 15 years, the stock airbag isn't a guaranteed deployment in an accident anyway. Not sure if that's true or not.

yes steering wheel with airbag + extension adapter kit all parts are new regards John
For the horn connector: on the 996 side, there should be two horn-related connections, one that triggers the horn relay and one that provides the ground path. Does the 991 steering wheel accommodate both of these connections ? Regarding the airbag, I'm assuming the 991 airbag should not be connected. Out of curiosity, what are the two connectors visible on the 991 airbag in the first photo? How are those connected to the 996 side?

hey. Did you ever figure this out? Im doing the same thing and Im stuck without the paddles working. Need to figure it out! 991 has 3 wires on one side 2 on the other
Please can somebody help with the paddle shifter wiring for the 991 wheel in 996. cant figure it out. PFA
The paddle and tip button wiring is a continuity to ground system. Each side of the tip control has 2 wires going in and a ground (3 wires total). The yellow brown connected to ground(black) gives you a downshift, the brown red wire connected to ground (black) gives you an upshift. Each paddle will have 2 wires. since it is a simple continuity system, it doesn't matter which wire is connected to black and which is connected to a color coded wire. If you make one of the yellow brown wires connect to a downshift paddle wire and one connect with black you will get a functioning downshift paddle. If you connect one of the brown red wires to the upshift paddle wire and the other connect to black it will work also. The jumper wire is to extend the body ground through the spacer and to the contact at the connector near the center of the wheel for the horn. I just did a bunch of wiring in my wheel, so I am familiar with what is going on in there. Here is my write up from within the last month: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...m_content=post

Thank you for your detailed response! I appreciate that. Im concerned about the right paddle on the 991 wheel, it has three wires so I dont know what to do with the third
This would be a great question for the 991 forum, but it is possible that the right shifter may have dual logic, pull - upshift, push - downshift - + ground = 3 wires.
