One of the least-pleasurable parts of driving a 996 is the steering column stalks. They are primitive, flimsy, and have coarse parting lines that aren't very nice to the touch and feel pretty outdated, so they just detract from the tactile sensation of driving the car, as compared to, say, the steering and shifting functions. Has anybody successfully upgraded to something else, like perhaps 997 stalks? Looking at the parts quickly online, 997 stalks and clock spring look entirely different than 996 parts, so I'm guessing this would not be a simple swap. Any ideas or experience?

Don't use my turn signals, cruise control or high beams, and always wearing gloves. Maybe something like this in a custom stalk cover.
