Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996 was optioned with the 692 – Six-disc CD changer Becker Porsche CDC-3. The one in my car had failed and been removed by a previous owner, along with the installation bracket. I wanted to return it back to as-optioned (after contemplating going with the PCCM+, I decided to keep it vintage and listen only to CD's released in 1999 when driving the car). Anywhoo, I've combed the web and Rennlist threads and I'm hitting a dead end in determining the proper bracket to buy. Everything I can find says part number 996-645-221-00 is the right one ( CD Changer Bracket ), but it has a vertical installation like this, as shown on any official installation diagram I can find (see 4/5 in the center): This installation should look like this: As this is my car: I think I've found the right one here one eBay with part number 996-645-231-00, but is it possible that the diagram is wrong as long as the part number is correct here and I can order this from the US instead of Germany? Thanks everyone!

I’ll bet many members upgraded their head units and removed the amp and CD3 units altogether. There may be a Rennlister who has both the CD and AMP brackets you desire still in his frunk, gathering the proverbial dust.
