Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all, I decided to upgrade the stock navigation system in my 2000 c4, pcm 1.0 digital sound package with 490. Ill attach photos for reference. I ordered an alpine headunit and harness from Crutchfield, connected everything and works but no sound, we troubleshoot with techs from Crutchfield without solving the issue, from what Ive been able to come up with from doing some research, a lot of cars came with a Dsp module on the dash, and the units have to stay in the car for everything to work, but my car doesnt have one of those, Im assuming its build into my factory navigation system headunit. I tested it out by connecting the new head unit and harness to the car, then Connected the old headunit to the black and the light blue slip connectors and bam! We have sound so is there any work around for this issue? I obviously can keep both units connected, can I buy a used dsp face and connect it to those slip plugs? any help is appreciated thanks in advance!

Was under the impression no car older than 2003 had the fiber/dsp system..? Are you sure its wired up correctly..? Is the blue wire connected to the amp wake up wire..?

Its not the fiber optic system, I believe its the original pcm 1.0 system and yes I have the blue wire wired correctly

POST 4Original post

DSP is not built into the PCM. The speaker output is through the amp unless you have the 680 option.
