Cover story is "Porsche Mania: Behind the bedlam of the marque's amazing run at auction". The article talks about how Porsches (930's, 914's, 993's and of course the true vintage models) are skyrocketing in value. The 930 has increased 104% in the past 5 years and the 993 has tripled in value in the last 18 months (not so sure about that stat). The article states that in the January Scottsdale auctions (Barrett-Jackson, Gooding, Russo and Steele) 23 classic 911's sold for an average of $166,698 including a '74 911 2.7 RS for $302,500. 911's from 1964-1999 are leading the pack (of course). The MY15 918 Spyder was the Robb Report Car of the Year and the Macan has a 6 month waiting list (unless you already bought one for your wife and pay $135K a year in taxes and bitch about it.) Also, a little historical background on Porsche's origins that most are familiar with, but I may rename my RL Profile as Gonzo Komenda. I subscribe to the hard copy but the online link won't be available until 4/20. I will bump the thread with the link if I don't forget. Maybe some day a similar article will be written about the 996/997.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a subscription too but only read about How to Buy the Best Private Jets and Yacht articles. That day might be in a 100 years when all 911's will have fried egg lights.
I hear ya. Lately I've spent quite a bit of time contemplating whether to buy a private jet or do the fractional thing. Decisions, decisions... Yacht. Out of the question. For the amount of time you spend on one, charter is the only way to go. While we are on the subject, what do you think of the new $500.00 bill?
I don't often read the Robb Report - I find it kind of depressing to read about all the cool things I probably won't ever have (it reminds me of reading The Sharper Image catalog when I was 10). Besides, I already know the two things I'll be purchasing if my wealth increases exponentially: a submarine (diesel, gas, nuclear, whatever) and a deep-sea platform (oil, gas, whatever).

I've tried the charter thing but I need availability 24/7 plus I need an all female crew to run it. As for the new $500 bill, I think they really need to put a more elaborate watermark and make the safety strip more pronounced so people will know when I take a stack out of my wallet. Until that happens, I'll just stick to my Amex Black card. Schnell, for the less fortunate, there is this cool site that has quite a few cool things for lower tier levels. www.dudeiwantthat.com
I am fine with the current $500 bill design. I only use them to light my cigars and wipe my dog's butt with them. I don't want to be all flashy and a poser with a fancy new design.

I asked for that Robot (80's) in the Sharper Image catalog for at least one birthday and Christmas, never got it. The robb report and an 80's copy of excellence started me on this hobby. Obviously furious about selling some cars Ive had, the super cars that were well within my reach are getting further away. Time to start making plans to fix that!
Let's all start an investment trust and go all in on a project for 5CHN3LL. The way he pulls all that funny $hit out of his ***, just imagine what he could produce with a deep sea drilling platform.
