Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just got my motorsport AOS for my 996 C2 2002. I didn't get any instructions on how to modify the hoses to get the motorsport AOS to fit. They claim they don't include instructions anymore. Is there anybody who have the instructions? Or somebody who can expain how to modify the hoses? Robert

POST 2Original post

The thing would be to remove the old AOS along with the hoses and modify the new ones to match the old before installing the new AOS. It might not be as simple as that though. Good luck. have you seen this DIY from Pelican Parts? http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti..._Separator.htm

If you have an x51 motor you will need a custom mounting bracket.

POST 4Original post

I had mine installed at BRRacing in Los Gatos, CA -- I'm a terrible mechanic -- earlier this year after having two OEM AOS' fail due to track driving. I can tell you, once you get the Motorsports unit in, you'll be very glad you did. Zero smoke, zero oil loss. The OEM unit was just badly designed.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, thanks for the replies. I have got some instructions from another guy so I think the installation shouldn't be any problem. On my model it is only one of the hoses to the AOS that need some modification. I am half way to lower the engine and trans 20-30 cm, just a few more hoses, the slave cylinder and some other stuff and then the engine is down. After that it shouldn't take long to install the motorsport AOS. I am really thrilled to take it to the track and see no smoke... Robert

I thought the AOS was exactly the same on both the normal and X51 engine. Why is it different on the X51 engine? Robert

Yes, the stock AOS is the same on both the normal and X51 engine. The motorsport AOS will not fit on an X51 engine without a custom made bracket/adapter. The X51 intake manifold is lager so the motorsport AOS does not clear the X51 intake manifold. Eric
