Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Since I managed to snap nearly all of the studs when removing my cats, I need to remove the studs from the mating surface on the catalytic converters (three studs for each cat). What's going to be the simplest way to get rid of these? Blowtorch + hammer, or drilling them out? I'm assuming the latter, but if anyone has any secret tips, I'd like to hear 'em.

POST 2Original post

Can you douse them in PB Blaster and punch them out? Blast them a few times over a couple of hours and try again. Sorry 5CHN3LL I only realized it was you asking. You will have already thought of my suggestion. Hope you are successful in what ever you come up with.

I've had good luck with Loctite Freeze & Release, followed by a good hammer rap!

I used something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/111447768000?lpid=82 to get my oil pan screw out when it broke. (Although this probably only will work if the cats are removed from the car). I also like the freeze/pb blaster type oils -- helped me remove a very stubborn O2 sensor.
