Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I finally got around to doing my first oil change on my 996, I had already purchased a few filters after i picked up the car. I have always used Castrol and found not everyone stocked the 5W40 Syntec and those that did were $9 per qt. While on vacation and chasing parts for my DD due to an incident with my son and a deer... oh, wrong story, I happened to be on the Advance Auto commercial web site looking for something and happened to look at the oil there it was in front of me @ $5.99/ qt. so I ordered up 2 six packs and went down to pick it up. So if anyone like me who has a preference to Castrol and has access to an Advance Auto commercial account it's the best deal I've found out there.

That is a solid deal. I got 2 cases, shipped free, from amazon last month for $133 per case. Looks like they upped the price by a few dollars but still a great deal.

POST 5Original post

Advance sometimes has the 5 qt jugs + a filter for $32, and if you have the spin on adapter, you can usually get credit towards a Mobil 1 filter, or just et a filter for a different car. Is that Motul on Porsche's approved list? Just wondering..
