Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, wife needed a new car. Swapped out my 996 for this Now I'm relgated to driving a 2004 excursion with more rust than miles. And it has 250,000 miles on it. Anyone need extra Porsche parts? I got a roof and some 17 inch snow tires and some rims. I guess I should start a part for sale thread.

POST 2Original post

Well, you can always drive the John Deere on those warm days... :-) Macan looks very nice, how accommodating was the dealer in regards to the tradein?

POST 3Original post

Hey, your Macan looks just like the one DTMiller uses to tow his racin' Boxster!

POST 5Original post

I know it's bitter-sweet and perhaps more bitter, but I can attest that the Macan is a beautiful, well-balanced car. It is a Porsche through and through. Ours has 3500 miles on it by now and we love it. Feels very light and nimble in comparison to the Cyenne. What goodies did it come with? Did you preorder or was it spontaneous?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Not really spontaneous. Been looking for a while. Looked at a q5, x3, qx70, and the Macan. Bought off the lot. Wifes only requirements were black and a sunroof. Wanted to order but was like at Jan for delivery. Has the premium plus, infotainment, heated steering wheel, and 20's. They're were a few other options.

Wow, after all you've been through... At least you picked the best one from your list. Wife's always want black because THEY don't have to wash it. LOL Congrats, just don't expect any waves from other owners though.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah, but now I am an educated buyer. Really educated. Now just keep looking for the car 99-01 996 Silver Auto full leather supple leather black interior Coupe litronics AWD No nav

Heh. Wow. Your ideal car and my ideal car are definitely not the same car.

+996 I don't need "full" leather even on my air vent slats in ANY real sports car.

Hey, my turbo's got 'em. (Sorry, but you KNEW that was coming - you lob me a softball down the middle of the plate and . . .) (This 996TT in your face stuff will get old soon, and I'll stop it eventually) (You know, after a short gloating period of say four or five more . . . days, err weeks, err months) (maybe)

Don't worry, if you boost enough and sit your car in the sun for awhile, I'm sure they'll fly off sooner than later. I'll be waiting for a thread on that once it happens.

POST 14Original post

I prefer driving the old 996 except in bad weather but I have a 96 land cruiser for that - my wife loves her Macan

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

24 hour update. I got the bmw 535xi for the day. Quite, auto, Bluetooth, good radio, could make phone calls, a smooth ride, and cup holders that don't spill at every pothole. Thinking back to the old days (yesterday) don't know how I had a 996 cab, 6 speed as a daily driver. Ride was rough, radio awful, and no hands free. Drinks always spilling. Had to look at my pager, remember the number, get out the cell, dial the number, shift, and then hold the phone to my ear to talk. Comparing the 2, the 996 was horrible. And would go back to it in 2 seconds. Driving was always the priority.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wow, am I getting schizophrenic. 3 days without the 996 and I find this on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...m=311451067845 May be making a trip to CT to check it out. I think this has every option except supple leather. Not to fond of the back up sensors. Kind of ruin the rear view - which is the best view of the car.

Ours has them and has lived its entire 15 years out in the sun/rain/heat/cold/snow. We have also done less than the bare minimum to take care of the leather. The only issue is that the dash has bubbled a bit (but even that shrunk back down in the last year). Porsche's leather holds up well!
