Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently acquired a 1999 C2 Cab Tip 15000 miles mint condition. One owner florida car. Runs great a blast to drive. I am not a cruise control guy but was playing yesterday on a long drive and discovered cruise control would not engage. I press the bottom on the end of the arm and the green dash light goes on BUT it will not engage. It feels like the arm is frozen and will not move in any direction. Up down in or out. It just feels locked in place. I was going to hit it with a little W-D 40 and let it soak. Any other ideas?

after the green light shows, you should be able to simply push the arm forward and the speed should engage and hold until you brake or pull the arm back. I wouldn't advice spraying anything into the arm. Although I have never had to work in this area I would advice you search you-tube on how to access the working part of the cruise control arm. It may require removal of the steering wheel which is a whole new job in itself I should imagine. A faulty switch on the clutch foot pedal may stop it from engaging also. You say the arm does not even move. I think your car may need a replacement cruise control arm. You wont find that out until you go further into the problem. Has the clutch pedal assistance spring been removed on this car? Some posters did remove them and then had problems with the cruise control not holding in. If you can contact the original owner, ask him did it ever work and what he might have done to stop it from working. good luck
