Any advice on how to completely drain the cooling system? I didn't want/need to use the air pressure system since I'm doing a lot of projects on the car and have access to the hoses in the car, and didn't want to risk any damage to 20 year old car parts. I opened the coolant lines at the water pump and thermostat, the two heater hose lines by the engine, the two large lines under the middle of the car, the lower radiator hoses, the heater core, yet all I get is 4.5 gallons of coolant. I want to flush out all the 20 year old green coolant, and have refilled the system 3 times with 4.5 gallons of distilled water. It was obvious that there was plenty of green coolant in the system after the first flush (still pretty green), but by the third flush it is almost clear. I'd like to try to do a more thorough drain for the third flush before refilling with pink coolant, so any idea where that last 1.5 gallons of coolant is hiding, and how to get it out? Thanks.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. I second using the link above that goes to Ashais post. Worked a treat for me.
I did the same, well at least the majority of it. Worked great.
Speaking of Ashai, he hasn't posted in a while. Anyone know what, if anything, happened?
