Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Whoever put the PSE on my car put those exhaust clamps vertically, which looks somewhat ugly as they can be seen under the bumper when looking at the car from a few feet away. What do those actually do? Can I loosen them & rotate them so the bolt sits vertically, away from view? Also, can they be moved along the exhaust ? Thanks, Alex

POST 2Original post

yes you can loosen them and rotate them so they are almost invisible. They support the weight of the exhaust system so they are needed.. I switched to a pair of "t-bolt" stainless clamps for this task. The originals were out of stock at the tine and i was in a hurry. Initially I thought they would be temporary but now I am just going to leave them. oh and if you look at them you can also flip them around so the bolt is to the rear of the pipe, and the head is down, keeps them out of site and easy to get at..

POST 3Original post

As pdx said, you can rotate them so the bolt is on the back side of the exhaust pipe.

All sorted, much better! Thanks

Yours dont look like standard Porsche clamps. There is a difference, if you care. The Porsche ones dont rust.

The clamps arent rusted, though they may look like they are in the pictures. The bolts are, but I was surprised how easy they were to loosen. Was expecting a fight.

Those are the clamps that my 996.2 C4 came with ,, I did the T-bolt clams because the bolts were ridiculously corroded.. I wonder if its a model/year/porsche phase of the moon thing..
