Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On the 996.1 cabs there is an available "spring loaded cover" that goes over the latching mechanism in the top storage area, under the clamshell, to prevent tears in the top. Have one on order from the dealer, does anyone know how the part is installed? Parts person said it just clips on over the latch. Cant find anything about the install.

POST 2Original post

I believe it is held in place with plastic push pins.I bought one also haven’t installed it yet.Not able to put eyes on at this moment. Will be able to tomorrow.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanka. Did the push pins come with the clip or have to be ordered separately?

POST 4Original post

Part #s for plastic expansion rivet 99959194140. Can’t find my cover at this time, packed away…looking at the latch it looks like 2 are needed,I don’t believe that they were included.sorry I cannot be more definitive. Regards.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks much! This helps a lot, will call the parts dept in the morning and make sure they are ordered.

POST 6Original post

This thread has a photo of the part. I think it installs with two little screws. I actually repaired mine 8 years ago, and it's still going strong. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...w-closing.html

Perfect! Thanks, guys. I tried searching on "little plastic thingy to save a $2k top" but that thread didn't show up. Good illustration. Seems like a simple job..
