Hi everyone,
My 996.1 has a PSE that was retrofitted at some point in the car�s life. It works very well, but:
-no matter the switch position, it will go to quiet mode between about 30-45mph. I don�t mind this too much, but is there any way to change that behaviour? PO just left the connector unplugged which made it loud all the time, but I don�t love that.
-it has a matte switch even though the rest of the switchgear is shiny. Based on the logical nomenclature, a shiny left-of-the-radio switch would be part number 996 613 988 10 A02. It doesn�t look like that exists. Guess my only option is to find some shiny varnish and put it on the button?

You can remove the speed sensor wire from the PSE relay. It's been documented on this forum several times. Search is your friend.
The button is matte because the 996.1s only had shiny buttons, and the PSE button wasn't offered until 996.2 when they switched the matte buttons.
What binary said, I think. The Austrians or the Swiss or somebody have a law about how loud a car can be between certain KMs/HR. Porsche put a relay in that shuts down PSE between those speeds. The fix I used was to clip a resistor inside that relay. It's in here somewhere. If you can't find it, shout out and someone will help you. I'd do it now but I'm busy watching the end of TdF Stage 8 ;-)
