Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am hoping I can get some help here identifying this broken metal ring. I was driving this afternoon and this ring fell out of the clutch pedal assembly and landed on my shoe. No odd noises or pedal feel before or after it came out. Got home and had a thorough look around up at the pedal assembly and cannot locate where it came from, nor the 'missing piece' of the ring. It is heavily greased and appears to have had blue paint on it before wearing. Pelican doesnt have any exploded diagrams for the 996 clutch pedal assembly so I am stuck at the moment on this one... Thanks in advance.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Found a diagram but looks like this ring came out of something as it's not shown in the diagram. Helper spring assembly maybe? http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=702-00

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

and... its a broken piece of the spring. Spring assist removal mod coming up tonight. If only I could always solve my own problems...

POST 4Original post

Many folks take that spring out to get more "feel" on clutch engagement point. This makes the clutch harder to push. It also can make the cruise control act up due slop in the assy. There is a hole in the "rod" at the back of #9 in the diagram in post #3. Put a cotter pin/nail/stiff wire through the hole and the helper spring assy will almost fall out by itself when you depress the pedal. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...matically.html
