Does anyone understand why it seems the oil pressure sensor goes bad so often on the 996s? Ive replaced the sensor twice in two years, and now it looks like its time for a third. bought a new sensor from the dealer, after a year it was not going to 5 bar when cold, and read 1.5 with engine off in overnight, before starting. dealer gave me a sensor under warrantee. now about a year later its going to 2 when I turn the key on, then drops to 1, never zero. anything to check? It just feels like the sensor should last longer. 3rd sensor in a few years, roughly 24k miles. 04 996, 110k miles, Mobil 5w50 thanks for reading this far -Eric

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Hear the same complaint over and over. Chalk it up to most parts now made in China. No quality control... Have also heard most, if not all, are bad right out of the box. Readings all over the place.
I have been getting about 5 years out of mine before they fail. Just put a new one in. We will see how long it lasts. Definitely stops your heart beating for a second when it first fails. Nobody wants to see 0 oil pressure.
