Hi All, I have a 1999 Carrera and damaged my seat memory control module (996.618.537.00). I bought a replacement off of Ebay (996.618.537.01) that the seller said was compatible. After installing it I'm seeing some really wonkie things. The backrest angle forward control moves the seat forward instead of the angle and some controls don't work at all. Some switches do different things and some even move the mirrors. I'm guessing the modules really aren't compatible after all? Did the seat wiring change? Is there a way to do a parts compatibility search? I can't even find 996.618.537.00 for sale on any U.S. sites.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm guessing not compatible. Did you plug everything in correctly?
I figured it out- I did not plug everything in correctly. The tricky part is plug 5, the seat switch. It has 9 pins but my connector only has 6 pin slots (I do not have lumber adjustment). This allows the seat switch connector to be plugged in 2 different ways. It probably should have been keyed better so that you can only plug it in one way but alas, it's now working.
Cool! Good job...
